Frank has his say

We asked the man behind the subs and tearoom (and absolutely everything else!) on his view of 2014 and looking forward. Here’s what Frank Entwistle said:

How did the 2014 season go in your opinion?

2014 was another great year for the club. 1stx1 Champions, Cup Semi Finalists and T20 runners up you can’t complain can you?

Our 2nd x1 really suffered from injuries and depletions but stuck at the task admirably

3rd x1 both Champions with some new notable breakthroughs by youngsters and even more emerging talent in the junior ranks so well pleased with the clubs direction as Stan says we have some  phenomenal cricketers’ in the U9’s

What was your favourite game?

Enfield at home 52-8 to 144ao then bowling the visitors out for 117 with Dec Bailey’s maiden 50. Dec and Blez (the elder statesman) sharing a fabulous 86 run partnership for the 9th wicket

My favourite other game was actually the 3rdx1’s final match at home to Enfield where they secured the title, they’d worked so hard all year and despite giving us all a few heart attacks ’ on that final day came thorough to be crowned Champions

What are your predictions for 2015?

I still feel that despite the loss of a number of players we should competitive and still hard to beat.

Therefore, logically we should be considered contenders in each of the three formats but Charlie and his team have nothing to prove.

Some players will get more opportunity to shine than previous we expect them to step up to the mark and personally I’m looking for another year of development form the junior ranks.

What album are you listening to at the moment?

I’m not really a big music fan but recent visit to South Africa over Christmas & New Year revitalised my interest in African music especially Johnny Clegg. I still had some old CD’s from my music and I’d dug up the old Mini iPod. So currently walking Jasper listening to Johnny Clegg and some of his greatest work: Impi, (meaning Zulu warriors or War) is a regular in South African Rugby Stadia, this together with the song ‘Great Heart’ have achieved anthem status in SA. Others of note: I Call Your Name, Scatterings of Africa, African Sky Blue, and December African Rain & Killimajaro

What are you doing to prepare for the new season?

Jan to March is a full on – nightmare time. It’s relentless NY Draw, AGM, Memberships, Fund Raising, Event organising to name a few. Currently really busy sorting 2015 membership cards out and receiving deliveries for stocking the tea room for the forthcoming season. Will drift down the club over the next week to 10 days and then give Stan a major clean up list of jobs to do

What is your personal key to success in 2015?

My personal key to success in 2015 would be organisation, we’ll have to be on the ball on and off the field this year there’s a lot going on and we’ll have our fingers in a lot of pies we will just need to be on the ball.
